Counselling & Psychotherapy

With over 25 years in clinical practice, Michaela McCarthy provides expert support in counselling, psychotherapy, and psychosexual therapy, helping clients navigate emotional challenges, relationship issues, and personal growth.

Everyone carries challenges, but it takes real courage to face yourself, to reflect honestly, and to find acceptance in both who you are and what you’ve been through. Therapy offers a space to do that safely, with support and curiosity rather than judgment.

Through open and honest dialogue, Michaela supports clients in exploring their inner world, recognising emotional patterns, and discovering new ways of relating to themselves and others. This relational process encourages deep insight, emotional resilience, and meaningful self-development.

As an integrative therapist, Michaela draws from a range of therapeutic models to create a personalised and effective approach for each client. Above all, she believes that the most important part of therapy is the relationship between client and therapist. She also collaborates with a trusted team of psychiatrists who offer assessments, diagnoses, and medication management for adults when needed, ensuring a holistic approach to psychological wellbeing.

Couples Counselling & Psychosexual Therapy

Every relationship has its own rhythm with moments of closeness, distance, and change. If you are navigating a rough patch, rebuilding trust, or seeking deeper intimacy, Michaela McCarthy offers a safe, non-judgmental space to explore your emotional and sexual connection.

With extensive experience supporting couples, Michaela helps partners improve communication, rebuild trust, and understand each other in ways that feel constructive and healing. Some come to therapy to reconnect and strengthen their bond, while others seek support through separation, divorce, or co-parenting with less conflict and more compassion. Whatever your situation, Michaela works with you to clarify needs, reduce resentment, and move forward with greater confidence.

For couples facing uncoupling, therapy offers a space to reflect, heal, and part respectfully – especially important when children are involved and a low-conflict, supportive environment is key. If you are committed to rebuilding your relationship, Michaela will work with you to explore your communication styles, emotional needs, and sexual dynamics. Whether you’re in a monogamous or polyamorous relationship, the goal is to foster trust, safety, and authenticity so both partners feel seen, heard, and supported.

“I’ve been a client of Michaela’s since my early twenties. She’s always been professional and reliable – and I particularly enjoy her holistic, relaxed approach. Now in my early thirties, there is no doubt that working with her has enabled me to articulate what I want from my life and make that happen.”
